Fishing, it is a sport
Fishing has always been a nice relaxing activity for most, but nowadays it is a fishing sport that is getting more and more popular. Species fishing came from England and originated in 1958. In this hobby some big fish are caught, some up to 21 KG and more. Louis Britz arrange tours where he takes people for about 4 days to biggest and best lakes in South Africa to fish. He teaches them and gives them the opportunity to fish at the best and most exciting places. “My biggest carp was about 21 kg” says Louis.
Species fishing is not the same as commercial fishing. There are major competitions like the World Carp Challenge this year on the 6th to the 13th July. “It certainly is not a cheap sport. The equipment is quite expensive. For example, we do not use ordinary ‘policemen’ we use sensitive alarms that picks up the slightest movements on the fishing lines. Then there are people like me who do not use regular monofilament fishing line, or better known as ‘gut’ but uses braid. Braid is like a type of yarn that is incredibly strong. ”
Species fishing also has other etiquette than commercial fishing. Species fishing competitors and participants apply Carp care. This means that the fish is treated with respect. The fish is held only 5 minutes out of the water. They work very gentle with the fish and then release it back into the lake when they are finished. Species fishing is more about the sport than to catch the fish and have it as a trophy.
“There are also other differences such as that we do not put the bait on the fish hook but above it. We also use fish Finders “says Louis. For those who love fishing, species fishing is the perfect sport. “It is relaxing but also keeps you on your toes. And if a fish bites, you are sure to have a have a good wrestling session “.
